It’s a cold, snowy night near the end of Fall
And all of Enloe is preparing for Charity Ball
The girls do their makeup
As the boys fix their ties
For they all know tonight will be the night of their lives
While everyone else is still getting dressed
And trying to look their absolute best
There is one group that is more excited than the rest:
And they are about to be put to the ultimate test
For months they’ve been planning but they’ll soon be fearing
Whether the night will end in tears or in jubilant cheering
The doors finally open, and in the crowd spills
Looking for friends, food, and the usual thrills
Coat check is packed, girls in heels are trying not to fall
And suddenly the dance floor seems far too small
The energy is high
The music is booming
And the dance moves are funny
But despite these distractions,
We all can’t help but wonder about the money
Suddenly, the music stops and everyone stares
At five people who have appeared at the top of the stairs
Beaming, with unmistakable pride,
As they flip the check to the other side…
But enough about that, let’s quickly change gears
And take it back to Enloe Charity Ball’s earlier years
It all started in 2004, when they raised over 10K
And it’s because of that check that we’re here today
Since then Charity Ball has grown to be so much more
And each time it becomes more impactful than it was before
So here we are 14 years later, raising 200K for Ignite
And our future is looking even more bright
We can’t wait to change more lives this year
So thank goodness December is almost here
So what does all this have to do with me?
Well, Charity Ball has changed my life too, you see
Running for student council was one of the best decisions I ever made
For it taught me to take chances without being afraid
So now you know why we do what we do
And why being part of this team is a dream come true
We’re just some kids doing not kid things
And I can’t wait to see what this Charity Ball brings
