“If you had to describe Enloe Charity Ball in one word, what would it be?”
We were filming interviews for a documentary the publicity committee was making about ECB, so I walked in prepared to answer some hard-hitting questions. The answer to this one, however, was easy.
Memories of us first touring Haven House, learning about their cause, and truly understanding how we could make a difference came to mind. I reminisced about going door-to-door and canvassing for funds. I remembered how the entire council burst into excitement as we bought our first ticket to the dance. And I was reminded of the galvanizing cheers that celebrated Big 5 as they announced that we raised $160k for Haven House atop the ceremonial Marble’s stairs.
Recounting it all, one word comes to mind—empowering.
