Sitting in my middle school classes, excited about the new school year, the topic of Enloe Charity Ball always lingered throughout conversations. Even as 8th graders, we were all thinking about the big dance at Enloe that we’d be a part of the next year. There was never a doubt that it would be the highlight of our freshman year. We’d plot ways to get into Student Council, what we would wear, where we would hang out before, and what we wanted Charity Ball to be like. Little did we know, much work went into putting the dance together and it was fueled by a much greater cause.
Through Charity Ball, students have brought together the student body to raise money for something bigger than themselves. Fortunately, the students before us had already worked out the details; we could rely on Charity Ball being great because of the changes these students had made and the “how to’s” for getting donations they provided. The number of events, emails, and hours took years of planning, years of trying, and ultimately years of succeeding.
Seeing the many years of effort and the continued excitement of other students brings me so much joy, and it inspires me to look forward to Charity Ball. I am so thankful that I get to take part in something so impactful and passionate.
