As the cold and cozy holiday season approaches, so does my favorite night to end the year: Enloe Charity Ball, which embodies the spirit of giving. As the leaves change colors, I spend lots of time planning and organizing exciting fundraising events with my fellow student council members, with whom I have built long-lasting friendships over the past year. These events have created many fond memories. I remember shivering in the cold, singing slightly off-tune Christmas carols with my friends, and selling hot chocolate to our student body while accompanied by the sweet, warm aroma filling the west gym lobby.
But it all comes back to the big event. I remember that grand, rewarding moment last year when the Big Five lined up on the stairs with the big check, revealing that we had raised $180,000 for Neighbor to Neighbor. That night, I realized the Enloe Charity Ball allows us to come together, not just as a school but as a community, and give back to those who need it.
This year, our student council is working hard to reach our goal of $170,000 for CASA, and I am confident we will! Being a part of Student Council has helped me connect with my community, and I look forward to contributing even more. Enloe Charity Ball reminds me that the season of giving is all about generosity, kindness, and positively impacting other people’s lives.
