During my time as Vice President of Finance, numbers have become an inescapable part of my life, whether I’m eagerly counting down the days until the dance, summing cash in my head, or calculating how close we are to reaching our $170,000 goal. It’s easy to measure Charity Ball through dollars, hours, or tickets. What can’t be quantified, however, is the spirit that drives us.
I’ve watched my classmates roll up their sleeves week after week to make sure every individual served by CASA has the furnishings they need. I’ve seen the Publicity committee stay late after every meeting to finish banners promoting our events. And just this past week, I’ve joined student volunteers and teacher advisors in arriving at school hours early each day to sell hot chocolate to our student body. Behind every aspect of ECB is passion and purpose.
These past months have emphasized to me that Enloe Charity Ball is more than an event — it’s a movement. It’s fueled by hope and the collective knowledge that we can make our community better. I know that when I leave this school and this organization, I will leave behind a group of endlessly compassionate, hard working people and a community that cares.
Numbers may define my responsibilities, but the heart of this work is immeasurable.
