Growing up, my favorite game to play was Flow Free: a simple yet addicting puzzle game where each level increases with difficulty, pushing me to improve in connecting the dots without overlap. The satisfying click of each connection kept me hooked, with each level’s heightened difficulty making the challenge more rewarding. Like Flow Free, Enloe Charity Ball has connected the dots between thousands of individual moments that blend together to create a forever-growing, luminous impact — but this time, the overlaps are what make it special.
Joining the Enloe Student Council was an essential moment in my high school experience, marked by my campaign slogan “Jojangles, it’s Jo time!” Over my last three years on Council, I’ve grown to love and appreciate how the people, process, and profound impact of Enloe Charity Ball proves that every effort, no matter how small, coalesces into something truly harmonious. But this year in particular was the first time I gained a deeper understanding of that impact. Diving head first into the operations of ECB as VP of Logistics has exposed me to the behind-the-scenes and all the intricate details that make the effort possible, from the careful selection of our beneficiary to volunteering on Community Day at King’s Ridge. One of the most moving moments was seeing the future tenants cry tears of joy because they finally had a safe place to call home. This is when I realized that ECB changes lives.
ECB’s contagious energy unites our student body year after year, and I’m honored that my final year at Enloe has allowed me to pass along its spirit as a part of Big 5. I feel “alive with purpose,” getting the chance to connect the dots of all our efforts, and even after the dance ends at 11:00 PM this Saturday, I am confident the ECB spirit will remain.
