Creative Growth

Throughout my life, I’ve never considered myself the artistic type. I can’t draw a realistic object to save my life and I always default to drawing stick figures. Yet somehow, through Enloe Charity Ball, I’ve become the leader of a subcommittee that spends 90% of our time designing, sketching, and painting banners. From my two years working on Physical Publicity, I haven’t magically developed an artist’s eye for perfectly realistic drawings. But I have learned how to choose vibrant colors, design legible text, and add just enough detail to catch students’ attention as they pass our banners on the way to class. In many ways, my experience with Enloe Charity Ball has been an exercise in discovering and expanding my skills. While most of Enloe’s student body knows ECB’s mission, few understand the day-to-day work that goes into making it happen. I’m living proof that Charity Ball has a place for every student’s talents — and that it opens doors to opportunities that take us in a direction we’d never expect.
